Calendar

Please note: this calendar is an aide to those wishing to book the hall and, as such, only shows those events taking place in the hall itself; it does not include village events and meetings of clubs and societies that take place in other venues, e.g. choir, gardening club or church events and services. For these, please refer to the newsletter.

On this calendar, dates and times for clubs, classes and societies will be correct for the upcoming month. Future months are correct as far as we know but liable to change, so dates will only be put on the calendar for the upcoming two to three months. Private bookings and one-off events are shown as soon as possible after booking and are correct unless the hirer amends details.

Basket Weaving Workshop
Aug 30 @ 10:00 – 16:30

SPACES VERY LIMITED!
In this day-long workshop you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the ancient craft of willow weaving.

We will learn to make a small ‘asymmetric’ basket with handle in the style of a Polish basketmaker.

In a friendly, supportive environment at Mynydd Llandygai, local basketmaker Karla Pearce will guide you through the process of weaving the base and some basic techniques for weaving the sides and folding down a border. We will talk about shaping your basket and the different ways you can add a handle. This will be a small class (maximum of 8 people) so there will be plenty of time for questions and small group support. If you have a piece of wood you would like to incorporate into your basket, please bring it along. There will also be a selection of wood available to choose from. All materials and use of tools are included in the workshop fee, £60.

Am Hyfforddiant NCBI

Mae’r National Coalition-Building Institute (NCBI) yn sefydliad rhyngwladol; ei sefydlu gyntaf yn 1984; ac wedi bod yn weithredol yn y DU ers 1986. Drwy weithio tuag at equity, mae NCBI yn cynnig hyfforddiant i adnabod a gwahardd rhagfarn, rhagfarn annheg a gwahaniaethu anghyfiawn. Mae NCBI wedi darparu hyfforddiant mewn arweinyddiaeth a datblygiad o fewn sector cyhoeddus, corfforaethol a gwirfoddol; mewn ysgolion ac amgueddfeydd, grwpiau cymunedol ac ffydd. Bu Royston John yn Brif Weithredwr NCBI ers 2002.

A two-day workshop on identity with the National Coalition-Building Institute (NCBI).

In this workshop, led by NCBI Chief Executive Royston John, we will be working through important questions together such as “Who are we and what are our different experiences?” “How are we complicit in our experiences and the experiences of others?” “What do we need to do now towards being more inclusive?”

Whether you’re a professional eager for bias training and don’t know where to turn, or you’re simply interested in increasing your self-confidence and understanding, our workshop is for you.

This two day workshop (10AM to 6PM) will provide space for story sharing on the topic of identity; encourage examination of the issues that separate us; enable participants to better recognise unfair prejudice and unreasonable discrimination; offer more effective, peaceful strategies for improvement change, advocacy and ally-ship.

Identify and celebrate similarities and differences within the group, become aware of how our different identities can cause different experiences of discrimination and mistreatment. We’ll also learn how our own identities, biases and society’s programming affects the way we view ourselves and the world, and learn how we can ignite true change. The experience aims to boost self-confidence and esteem in the participants – identity, difference and us working towards equity.

You will receive:

  • A powerful 15 + hour two day training experience through a variety of engaging activities and group tasks with national professional coach & consultant, Royston John who has over 20 years’ experience and knowledge in leadership, management, equality and equity.
  • FREE space for our follow up workshop on Shifting Attitudes where we’ll go into even more depth about how to implement everything you’ve learned and support your agenda for change.
  • A confidential, safe space with other warm and welcoming participants.
  • Guidance with our highly supportive professional facilitators who have decades of experience in transformational life coaching and executive career coaching.
